Conferences and Room Hire
As well as housing The Shiatsu School Edinburgh, The Shiatsu Centre can be hired in whole or in part to cater for your requirements or those of your organisation.
As well as the main teaching room, which is a calm space ideally suited to group classes such as yoga, Chi Gung / T'ai Chi, Pilates, holistic health training and meetings, we have a Treatment Room for one-to-one therapy and small groups (co-counselling or group supervision for example) and a Community Room which is bright, comfortable and suitable for a variety of occasions, whether for a business meeting, a birthday party, or whatever event you wish to hold.
Room hire is available from £12 per hour (large rooms), and £8 per hour for the Treatment Room, and block bookings for either a one-off or regular event can be negotiated. We can also arrange for a finger buffet or tea/coffee/bakes, and there is an on-going light meal menu available from the Tea Tree Tea Cafe.

Recent Shiatsu Research Findings
'An important piece of professional research has been carried out by Professor Andrew F Long at the School of Healthcare, University of Leeds, in conjunction with The European Shiatsu Federation.
As a result of this study, carried out over 3 countries (Britain, Spain and Austria), we can now state that Shiatsu is good for stress, back and neck pain, and for sports injuries.'
This rigorous longitudinal study indicates the value of this powerful therapy for the benefit of our long-term health.

Other PhD research by Dr. Zoe Pirie MRSS Dip.BSS-DO showed that GP attendance rates and numbers of prescriptions written fell by half after only 6 Shiatsu sessions and that this amazing result lasted up to 2 months after the final treatment.
There is other interesting information about research, including the Shiatsu Systematic Evidence Review on The Shiatsu Society (UK) website.
Introductory Shiatsu Courses
The Shiatsu School Edinburgh (TSSEd) will be running a series of Introductory Shiatsu courses on Saturday 24 April and 8th May 2010.
They will be held in our new premises on Bread Street, central Edinburgh, from 10 am-5.30 pm. The cost is £55 per day; and £100 for 2 people booking together for the same day. These courses are an excellent way of finding out what Shiatsu is, and taking home new skills that will benefit yourself, your friends and family. You will also get the chance to see where the School's courses run, meet TSSEd teachers and ask any questions you may have on the different training courses available.
These monthly days will introduce you to, or remind you of, what Shiatsu is, how you can use acupressure points, techniques for a full-body Shiatsu massage for family and friends, and some fascinating theory to put it all into context.
